Number 4 In Taiwan

Superstition?  Solution!

Taiwan's Apple Daily (in translation):

Smoke billowed from train number 424; since the inauguration of the bullet train, seven out of nine delays involved train starting with number 4.  Pang Chia-hua [Director General of Taiwan's Bureau of High Speed Rail] therefore proposed to Ou Chin-der to skip 4 when numbering trains.  Ou has not responded.

"4" sounds like "death" in Chinese.
