Lonely Planet China Confiscated
Dear Lonely Planet China editors,
For the sake of your readers, don't forget to reaffirm the one-China policy in the most unequivocal manner next time.
(via Peking Duck)
UPDATE 2:
Asia Pundit reports in Shanghai: "the state-owned bookstore ... does sell the Lonely Planet Shanghai city guide ... However, there are no editions for Taiwan, China ..." Another Shanghai expat says: "I asked the shop assistant, and he explained to me that in China it is not allowed to sell the Lonely Planet guides for China, Beijing and Tibet."
UPDATE 1:
He who thinks that China has a policy of banning Lonely Planet guidebooks, read this.
There were no Lonely Planet books on China to be found in any of the six or seven bookstores I visited in Beijing. Many countries outside China, but nothing in China.
