The two international airports in Taiwan are CKS International Airport near Taipei city in the north and Kaohsiung International Airport in the south.
CKS International Airport is one of the regional hubs in North-East Asia. It should not be confused with Sung Shan Airport in Taipei city, which is a domestic airport.
Despite economic and cultural ties, there is no regular direct flight linking Taiwan and Mainland China for political reasons. Hong Kong and Macau, the two Special Administrative Regions (SAR) of China, connect the two regions (or countries, some would cry) across the Taiwan Strait.
