"Can I apply a China visa in Hong Kong?" Probably one of the most frequently asked questions in China travel-related forums. The short answer is "yes".
Travellers can apply their visas from the Visa Office of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China (7th Floor, Low Block, China Resources Building in Wanchai, Hong Kong Island), which is near the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Alternatively, China Travel Service (Hong Kong) also provides visa application services. With branch offices and flexible opening hours, CTS Hong Kong may be more convenient. But it is more expensive than applying through the Visa Office direct.
Check the websites of the Visa Office and CTS Hong Kong for updates.

If applying from Taiwan you can get a travel agent to take your application to Hong Kong. Takes about a week. Cost about 2000.

I recently read China changed the HK Visa rules for a number of countries. Does any one have a complete listing of what countries are included in this "NO" CN Visa from HK ruling...?

I'm a US citizen, living in TN and holding RT tickets to visit Hong Kong July 16-22, 2008. I would like to visit Chinese cities and tourist sites surrounding Hong Kong for those 5 days. Can I wait till 7/16 HK arrival to apply for China visa and how much is the China visa fee in HK? Or, is it cheaper to apply in USA and how to do it.

Hello, i intend to to travel to China in August and then from China head to Thailand, however i dont know exactly when or where we will be leaving china from as we are back packing.
On the visa application form for china it asks that i have a incoming and out going ticket for china, but i only have an incoming to Hong kong but no departure ticket.
Is there any way to get a visa when you dont have a return ticket??
Thank you, Brad

Hi, could you tell me whether it's stil possible to get new L visas in Hong Kong, without having to provide return airtickets and hotel bookings? I have been told a pink registration slip is enough to prove where you will be, but different people say different things. Can you tell me for sure whether new L visas are being issued in Hong Kong? Also, would it be easier/ possible to get a new L visa from outside the country using the 'pink slip' and not return air tickets?
Thanks for your time
Mark

Visa applicants are increasing in a large number and need longer waiting time in the visa office recently. If you don't reside or work in Hong Kong permanently, you are required to apply Chinese visa from the Embassy or Consulate-General of Peoples' Republic of China in your resident country. You are welcome to China for tourism, business, visit of the Olympic
Games.
