Linking Feng Shui Master to Wen Jiabao

Headline in today's Oriental Daily: "Chan Chun-chuen's Earth-Shattering Network" (陈振聪惊天网络).  Here is the only juicy bit:

(In translation) Chan Chun-chuen is a director of three Hong Kong companies.  One of the companies has attracted the big names including Premier Wen Jiabao's younger brother Wen Jiahong to its board of directors ...

陈[振聪]在本港出任三间公司的董事，其中一间公司的董事更是猛人云集，包括国务院总理温家宝的弟弟温家宏 ...

Caveat emptor: From documents filed with the Companies Registry, one may associate Chan Chun-chuen with a "Wen Jiahong".  But how could the reporter be so sure that this "Wen Jiahong" is the premier's sibling?

Weiquan, Fandong, Falun Gong

Five Chinese lawyers and legal scholars failed to attend the conference "Rights Protection (Weiquan) Lawyers and the Rule of Law in China" held in the University of Hong Kong, Sing Tao reported.

Johannes Chan, Dean of the Faculty of Law of HKU, read out a letter written by a mainland legal scholar who decided not visit Hong Kong: "Just when I bought the air ticket to Hong Kong, the leader (领导) [of my university] told me that the conference was organised by Fandong (反动; hostile) organisation.  He requested me better not to attend."

The conference was co-organised by the Law Faculty and the China Human Rights Lawyers Concern Group.

Is the Concern Group really that fandong?  Originally the Group's website was hosted by the Hong Kong Alliance In Support Of Patriotic Democratic Movements Of China, which campaigns for vindication of the June 4 Incident.  A mirror of the Group's website is still hosted by the Alliance.  The website of the Concern Group also has a list of "Related Links".  Under the heading of "News Sites" you will find five links, including the Epoch Times and Renminbao.  Prima facie the Concern Group is connected with the "hostile forces".

Probably the "leaders" couldn't care less: they had decided to err on the side of caution anyway.

But I care.  The Concern Group has an honourable cause.  But I am sceptical about people who refer to the Falun Gong propaganda machines as "news sites".  The links are almost an insult to Chinese weiquan lawyers, who take the moral high ground because their endeavour to get the facts straight.

Sarawak-Hong Kong Flights

Michael Sneed and the Chicago Sun-Times may want people to forget their exclusive report on the identity of the Virginia Tech gunman: "a Chinese national" who "arrived in San Francisco on a United Airlines flight on Aug. 7, 2006, on a visa issued in Shanghai".  Follow this link you will get a sanitised version.  But the Google's cache of that URL records what Ms Sneed actually reported:-
